Draft regulation on training and further training of certified mediators presented

For the first time, the Federal Ministry of Justice is presenting binding standards for the training and further education of certified mediators. The aim is to improve quality and transparency in the mediation market.

The Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection has published the draft ordinance on the training and further training of certified mediators (ZMediatAusbV).

The aim of this ordinance is “to set minimum standards for the training of mediators for reasons of quality assurance and market transparency.”

Nine paragraphs are to regulate the basic qualification (§ 2 ZMediatAusbV), the training (§ 3 ZMediatAusbV), the further training (§ 4 ZMediatAusbV) and the practical experience (§ 5 ZMediatAusbV) required to be able to use the title “certified mediator”.
