At the fifth Conflict Management Conference on October 7, 2016 at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, PricewaterhouseCoopers AG (PwC Frankfurt/Main) and the European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder) published the results of the joint final study entitled “Conflict Management in the German Economy – Developments over a Decade”. Over a period of 10 years, the acceptance and use of out-of-court dispute resolution procedures in the German economy has been scientifically investigated and the results published in five studies. The authors of the fifth and final study conclude that instead of the hoped-for “revolution” in alternative dispute resolution procedures and mediation in the corporate context, an “evolution” can be observed over the period of the study. Although companies’ interest in the possible applications and in alternative dispute resolution procedures as a whole has risen continuously, this interest is not reflected in a corresponding increase in demand. “A revolution in conflict resolution would probably have been more spectacular, but a continuous evolution will prove to be more sustainable,” say the authors.
You can find the final study either on the website of the European University Viadrina or you can obtain it from PwC Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main . You can also find a link to the study in our download center.
